AGENDAS - Posted for students on Moodle and recorded daily in the science notebook.
- Materials - Science notebook, pencils, Sharpie (black fine tip)
- Checkoff - "I get the NAC of it!" Students use their current rubric to self assess their work in these categories: N-Neat A-Accurate C-Complete
- Next Steps - "I need to..." Students identify and commit to activities to develop their understanding of concepts and refine performance skills.
- Learning Target - "I can..." Conceptual science standards addressed in the learning activities are stated.
- Procedure - "I will..." Skill and performance standards addressd in the learning activities are listed.
- Resources - Science Notebook, Resource Book, Video, Websites, Artifacts
- Assignments - Learning activities are recorded and scheduled in the Kulshan Planner and checked off when they are completed.
- Homework - Additional research and/or work not completed in the lab must be completed for the next day's checkoff.
- Notices - "I need to know..." Lab and Field Investigation updates are posted on Moodle.
INVESTIGATIONS - Science Investigation Packets are divided into 4 parts: F.E.R.A.
- F - Focus Students begin to develop concepts based on their preconceptions and what they want to know to deepen their understanding.
- E - Explore Students engage in the scientific process by participating in collaborative activities to test ideas and collect data.
- R - Reflect Students make meaning of their experiences to find misconceptions and address the gaps in their understanding of the concepts.
- A - Apply Students apply their conceptual understanding to their local and global communities to identify the next steps for investigation.
Science Investigation Packets...
- are kept in the Investigation Sheet Protector (ISP) in the student's binder until turn in date.
- are reviewed by peers, parents/guardians and/or the teacher before rubric scores are recorded.
- are fastened into the student's science notebook for easy reference while developing the Big Ideas described in the science standards.
